Glen Oaks High School Security Dads is a nonprofit organization located in Baton Rouge, La. that provides support and community outreach in Glen Oaks.
Created to help combat violence in the local high school, the security dads organization has grown to not just supporting the school but the community.
The Security Dads have programs that mentor students, provide community assistance in times of need, and works closely with elected officials to provide support in the Glen Oaks community.
The program started at Glen Oaks High School in 1993, as a means of bringing more Dads into the school to support the students and faculty.
It started as a group of concerned Dad's showing up to more events, games, being present on school grounds, being there to talk to students and give support and encouragement.
The goal was simple: strengthen individuals, families, and the community.
Because of the strong leadership, and group of dedicated Dads, we are still a very important part of the community nearly 27 years later.
Our mission is to enrich the quality of life in our community and school through volunteer involvement.
We believe that when young people are given more opportunities to participate in meaningful and important activities at school, they are less likely to engage in drug use, vilolence, and other problem behaviors.
